Albert Pinkham Ryder (1847–1917) was an American painter known for his moody, dreamlike landscapes and seascapes, often infused with symbolism and allegory. His heavily textured, experimental techniques and luminous compositions made him a precursor to modernist movements like Abstract Expressionism. Though he produced relatively few works, Ryder's deeply personal and atmospheric style left a lasting impact on American art.
